I think that before George's little hack around Exeter I would've been quite happy to miss Cheltenham and head to Aintree . But all that would really do is delay finding out - and anyway the ground could also deteriorate again . So the thought is to go for The World Hurdle . He would have an easier race over the smaller obstacles and Scu would look after him . If he was in the form of 2 years ago he would be favourite so it will be a good opportunity to see if he retains any of his old ability . We also want to protect his handicap mark over fences - and maybe have another tilt at The Paddy Power in November .
Geoffrey will go on Gold Cup day - either the Gr1 nov or The Martin Pipe . DP says its up to me - either come 6th in the Albert Bartlett or 1st in the MP !! Trainers have a way of putting things ! CU
Ps Only runs at Stratford on Monday - to get us all off to a winning start for the week !

Excellent report again for your two readers, Rog.
ReplyDeleteI'd noticed earlier today the 'plunge' on Gevrey for the Martin Pipe ... perhaps NOT too short; will depend on whether a welly day. It IS today!!
Also had this feeling for the World Hurdle, anyway just hope all goes according to plan.
Cheers.
Its good that you will be really involved in the festival.
ReplyDeleteHope you are right about Monday!
